My current designer crush is now, officially, Thakoon. He's an American fashion designer, born in Thailand, but moved to the states at 11. Starting with a Business degree from Boston University, he came to New York, worked as a fashion writer and finally entered Parsons School of Design. Since then, he's blown up. His Fall 2008 collection eeks of military, with the jackets and wool, with splashes of punchy color, patterns, and plaid. Love.
I started out backstage while the models were getting their hair and makeup done and amidst photographers, videographers, journalists, and the like, Anna Wintour was talking (and smiling) to Thakoon himself.
